With increasing costs of basic necessities, pinching pennies and stretching your budget is becoming more of reality for most people. Cash-back apps can help you save money on things that you would already be purchasing and that’s why I love using them!
What is a Cash-Back App?
Cash-back apps are designed to help increase a retailer’s sales. There is usually a partnership or relationship with the retailer in which the retailer funds payments through the app in exchange for consumer information, data, and referrals.
Some of the data and information that is exchanged includes consumer insights to improve products, services, and pricing as well as shopping behaviors and trends.

Below is a list of the top cash-back apps that I use and how they work:
1. Ibotta – Ibotta allows you to receive cash back when you shop in-store or online with thousands of retailers. You can shop and compare prices, choose your offers, and simply upload your receipt. Ibotta offers bonuses in which you can earn cash back by fullfilling specific requests. You also have the option to link your store loyalty account allowing Ibotta to match your purchases with offers automatically without uploading a receipt. If you choose to shop online offers, simply click the link to the store through the app and eligible cash back on purchases made will be added to your account. Ibotta offeres cash back on gift cards and online subscription purchases made through available retailers on the app as well. Once you earn the earnings threshold of at least $20 you can withdraw your earnings by sending the money to your bank account or PayPal or you can purchase a digital gift card through the app. Use my referral link below to sign up and you will automatically get cash after submitting your first receipt and I will receive cash, too!

2. Fetch– Fetch is a rewards app in which you shop offers, scan receipts, and get rewarded with points that you can redeem for gift cards, cash cards, sweepstakes, merchandise, or donate to a charity upon reaching the minimum amount of points required for that redemption. You receive points for shopping specific items or retailers. You can receive point boosts for every dollar spent on participating brands. Fetch offers clubs that provide exclusive offers and content on certain brands. Fetch also offers points for prescriptions through GoodRX. You must use the GoodRX member info located in the app. You search the drug, configure your prescription, and shop coupons. You then use the coupon at checkout for points. Another great feature of Fetch is the option to play games for points from completed tasks within the game. Sign up using my referral link below and we will both earn points upon your submittal of your first receipt!

3. Checkout 51– With Checkout 51 you add your offers to your list, shop in-store or online, and upload your receipt to receive cash back. New offers are available every Sunday. This app also offers cash back for gas. You have 4 hours to redeem the gas offer and 24 hrs to upload your receipt. To shop online, you simply shop via the link to the store on the app and eligible cash back will be applied to your account. You can also earn cash for taking surveys via the app. If you start a survey but are ineligible to complete you will receive partial cash back. As with Ibotta, you can add your store loyalty account to automatically get cash back on eligible purchases that you have selected to add to your account. Once you’ve reached at least $20 worth of earnings you can cashout via PayPal or check.
4. Rakuten– Rakuten is simple to use but very rewarding especially if you are a frequent online shopper. You simply choose the store link through the app, shop via that link, and earn cash back for eligible purchases. You can also earn cash back on in-store purchases and Dining purchases by using Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit cards that are linked to your account. You have to add the offer to the linked card prior to making the purchase. Rakuten also offers bonuses each with it’s own terms. You can receive cash back on these bonuses by following the terms. You can redeem your cash back earned via PayPal or a Big Fat Check. You will automatically get paid via your selected payment method every 3 months as long as your balance is at least $5.01. Sign up using my referral code below and I will receive a bonus!
